With the continuous extension of people's life scenarios, the functional evaluation of textiles has become a performance indicator that people pay close attention to, where the single indicators include water resistance, moisture permeability, and warmth retention. The performance of textiles is evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively through different standards and methods of testing, which is beneficial for enterprises and relevant departments to supervise the manufacturing and quality control of textiles.

1.Waterproofness

Depending on the actual use of textiles, the test methods for water repellency are divided into hydrostatic pressure method, surface wetting resistance test, simulated rain test, water absorption test, etc. Hydrostatic pressure method is mainly used in highly waterproof coating or laminated composite textiles, such as canvas, tarpaulin, rainproof clothing cloth, etc.; surface moisture resistance test is mainly used to test raincoat fabric, tent cloth surface hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties; simulated rain test is mainly used to test the textile product rain permeability; water absorption test is mainly used to test the textile water repellency and surface moisture resistance.

2. Heat preservation

When conducting the heat preservation test, the textile specimen is covered on the electric heat test board, and the test board and its surrounding and bottom protection boards are kept at the same constant temperature, so that the heat of the electric heat test board can only be dissipated through the specimen, and the heat flow of the specimen is measured when the environment reaches certain conditions, so as to determine the heat preservation of the textile.

3.Moisture absorption and quick dryness

Through the test of textile wetting time, changing water absorption rate, maximum wetting radius, liquid water diffusion speed, single transfer index, liquid water dynamic transfer comprehensive index and other indicators, reflecting the dynamic transfer process of liquid water in textiles, so as to assess the performance of textile moisture absorption and quick drying, perspiration, etc.
